“Thriller” fun facts

thriller-b

Without a doubt, everyone’s favorite spooky song is “Thriller” by Michael Jackson, but there are some fun facts about the video you probably didn’t know. Did you know the famous dance moves weren’t created by the King of Pop himself? The awesome zombie scene owes its thriller moves to choreographer Michael Peters, who also choregraphed Pat Benatoar’s “Love is a Battlefiled”  and tons of others.

Do you know whose evil laugh and rap that you hear at the end of the video? It’s horror-movie legend Vincent Price. As the song goes:

“…Your body starts to shiver
For no mere mortal can resist
The evil of the Thriller….”

And did you know that not only did the video win about a million awards, it was inducted into the National Fim Registry by the Library of Congress?

Tips to save yourself in a horror movie

Thrillvania

Want to stay alive if you find yourself in a horror move? Check out these tips.

Don’t leave your group of friends. There’s safety in numbers, and the person that goes to “check out that creepy sound” always gets killed. And don’t make fun of your friends when they get creeped out by that sound.

If you are alone, and you think you’ve killed the monster or murderer, you probably haven’t, no matter how many times you’ve shot or stabbed him. Don’t assume–just run away. If you’re female, just know that you will fall down once or twice when you’re running, but hopefully you’ve got enough of a head start

Do not run upstairs to get away. Upstairs isn’t going to save you. Better to run out of the house than have to jump out of the second-story window. Likewise, don’t lock yourself in the bathroom or put a heavy piece of furniture in front of the door where you’ve decided to hide.

Let’s hope you never have to use these tips! Be careful out there.

A Texas Spooky Story!

Thrillvania

Did you know? Many stories of ghosts and the paranormal are based on Texas legends. That’s no surprise since so many attacks and battles occurred across the state.
One story is based around a notorious horse thief called Vidal. In 1848, he made the mistake of stealing horses from the Texas Ranger Creed Taylor.

Taylor and infamous Bigfoot Wallace–another Texas Ranger–went on a hunt for the bandit.. Late one night, the Rangers discovered Vidal and his bandits. The infamous Bigfoot wanted to make an example of Vidal. So he decapitated Vidal, tied his body on the saddle on the back of a wild mustang, and drove the horse away. He knew this would send a message to other horse thieves.

For many years, the wild horse roamed South Texas, with Vidal’s head and body still strapped to the saddle. The horse and rider were named “El Muerto” by the natives and were blamed for all kinds of evil and bad luck. Eventually, an armed posse found the wild horse and cut the head of Vidal from the horse. Bullet holes and arrows riddled Vidal’s head and the horse’s body. Even now, there are stories of people seeing a headless horseman riding on clear and moonlit nights.

It has been said that on a clear full-moon night that you can see and hear the headless horseman roaming the grounds of Thrillvania Haunted House Park. Come see for yourself, if you dare…
